The mayor of Alba Iulia, Gabriel Pleșa, has been ordered by the Alba Tribunal to pay a judicial fine of over 53,000 lei, after he failed to submit the documents requested by the court in a labor dispute.
This case was initiated by the former director of the Alba Iulia Local Police, Daniel Bilcu, who contested his dismissal from office, which took place in May 2021. Although Bilcu won the case, with the court ordering his reinstatement and the payment of unpaid salaries, he could not return to his position due to the reorganization of the local police under the authority of the City Hall in January 2022.
The fine imposed on the mayor increased significantly, being the result of his refusal to present the necessary documents in the process. The court thus decided to impose this sanction to ensure compliance with legal procedures.
