The population of Romania is undergoing an intensified aging process, similar to the global trend, under conditions in which, by July 2025, the number of people aged over 65 will exceed the number of children under 14 by 35.4%, according to data from a study presented by NN Life Insurance.

The demographic aging index has increased from 126.8 (on January 1, 2024) to 132.4 (on January 1, 2025) elderly people per 100 young people.
