The Romanian government, through Minister Radu Miruță, will soon approve a decision for the reopening of the graphite exploitation at Baia de Fier, which had previously been closed.

Radu Miruță, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense, stated that he has signed the government decision necessary for this reopening. Additionally, the Minister of Economy, Irineu Darău, mentioned that the approval from the Ministry of Environment has been obtained and the approval stages at the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Justice are being finalized.

The project provides for an international tender to prepare the exploitation, with the aim of starting activities in 2028. Miruță emphasized that the former Ciolacu Government had misinformed regarding the funding of the exploitation, and the current efforts ensure that the exploitation license remains in the ownership of the Romanian state.
