The Romanian government has approved a decision establishing the financial ceilings and calculation mechanisms for subsidies amounting to over 180 million euros, intended for farmers. The interim Minister of Agriculture, Tanczos Barna, stated that farmers are not to blame and must receive these subsidies even in the complicated political context.
The total financial support amounts to approximately 918.3 million lei (over 180.7 million euros), provided from the state budget for the year 2026, in the form of transitional national payments related to the 2025 application year. The aid targets agricultural crops, including flax, hemp, tobacco, hops, and sugar beet, as well as support for the livestock sector, aimed at cattle and goats. The beneficiaries are farmers who use agricultural land or raise animals, according to the current legislation. The conditions for granting are established by MADR Order no. 125/2024.
