The border police from the Territorial Inspectorate of the Giurgiu Border Police conducted a check on DN5, stopping a minibus registered in Bulgaria, driven by a Bulgarian citizen. In the vehicle, along with the driver, there were eight other passengers, all Bulgarian citizens. Following the checks, 47 exotic birds were found transported in special boxes, for which no documents of origin or transport were presented.

The competent authorities, namely the Giurgiu Veterinary Sanitary and Food Safety Directorate, decided not to allow the entry of the birds into the territory of Romania. Additionally, the Bulgarian authorities were informed about the incident. The Territorial Inspectorate of the Giurgiu Border Police continues to collaborate with partner institutions to prevent illegal acts and ensure border security, thus respecting the Schengen acquis and intellectual property rights.
