Member of the European Parliament Nicu Ștefănuță explained the procedure by which the European Parliament will analyze the request of the General Prosecutor's Office regarding the lifting of the immunity of Diana Șoșoacă. The case will be examined by the Committee on Legal Affairs, where a rapporteur will prepare a report based on the evidence, and Șoșoacă will be able to be heard. Ștefănuță emphasized that lifting immunity does not mean guilt, but only allows national courts to continue the investigation. The Attorney General of Romania requested on Tuesday the lifting of the immunity of the MEP, accused of deprivation of liberty, promoting extremist ideas, Holocaust denial, and outrage.
