The General Prosecutor's Office has opened three criminal cases for death threats addressed to judges, following complaints from the Superior Council of Magistracy.

The General Prosecutor's Office announced the opening of three criminal cases against individuals who threatened Romanian magistrates with death. The complaints were filed by the Superior Council of Magistracy, and the investigation targets public incitement offenses. The suspects have been identified as individuals without special status, who incited the public, through online messages, to commit serious crimes, including murder and judicial outrage against magistrates and their families.

These threats arose in the context of the magistrates' opposition to a bill aimed at raising the retirement age and reducing pensions, generating discontent in society. The cases were established following a report from September 2025.
