The First Lady of Romania, Mirabela Grădinaru, had a meeting on Tuesday with a UNICEF delegation led by Edouard Beigbeder, UNICEF Regional Director for Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the promotion of children's rights and the participation of children and young people in the decision-making process. During the discussions, Romania's progress in this area was highlighted, including the legislation adopted in 2024, which facilitates the involvement of young people in the development of public policies. Mirabela Grădinaru emphasized the importance of children's access to education and protection, stating that the way children are treated today will influence the society of tomorrow.

Edouard Beigbeder appreciated Romania's efforts and mentioned that UNICEF will continue to support initiatives that place children at the center of public policies. The meeting also addressed the implementation of the integrated community services model, the European Guarantee for Children, and opportunities to promote Romanian best practices internationally. Additionally, topics such as education, online safety, and the prevention of violence against children were discussed.
