The National Regulatory Authority for Energy (ANRE) has announced the registration of the first two energy communities in Romania, marking an important step in the development of the local energy sector.
The Port Community Association has become the first Renewable Energy Community, according to the Order of the President of ANRE no. 50/2026, while the Small Energy Cooperative Micăsasa Coop has been registered as the first Citizen Energy Community. These registrations facilitate the participation of citizens and local actors in the energy market, allowing them to produce, consume, store, and sell renewable energy.
Energy communities provide an official framework for the recognition and functioning of these entities, encouraging active consumer involvement in local energy production. ANRE urges citizens and eligible entities to develop new communities to support the transition to renewable energy sources.
