The Ministry of National Defense announced the reception of the first COBRA II armored vehicles manufactured in Romania, a significant moment for the equipping of the Romanian Army.

The production of these vehicles began in Mediaș in 2026, and the first 12 units were delivered in July. According to plans, deliveries of 216 vehicles are scheduled for this year, including in four new configurations.

The contract with Otokar company provides for the supply of 1,059 armored tactical vehicles, worth approximately 4.263 billion RON.

The Ministry emphasizes that this program not only enhances the equipment of the Army but also contributes to the development of the national defense industry, generating highly qualified jobs.

By 2026, the production of over 780 vehicles out of the total ordered is expected.
