The FAST DANUBE 2 project, announced by the Minister of Transport Ciprian Șerban, aims to improve navigation conditions on the Romanian-Bulgarian sector of the Danube, allowing vessel traffic for 340 days a year, compared to 280 days currently. Funded through the Connecting Europe Facility, the project will increase cargo traffic by 20%, reduce costs, and enhance the importance of the Port of Constanța. The first purchase, estimated at 13.7 million euros, focuses on monitoring the environmental impact.
