The European Union, in the face of economic challenges caused by high energy costs, is developing plans to reduce taxes on renewable energy and to increase the flexibility of electrical systems.

According to a draft document consulted by Bloomberg, the European Commission intends to propose next month a new regulation that will introduce targets for the adoption of smart meters and tax changes aimed at stimulating the use of clean energy. This initiative comes in the context of the Middle East war bringing the energy issue back to the political forefront of the European Union, amplifying concerns about the economic impact of higher electricity bills.

These measures are essential to support the transition to more sustainable energy sources and to protect the economies of member states.
