Hydrologists announce a continuation of the decrease in the Danube's flow rates, with estimated values of 1400 m³/s at Baziaș, approaching the historical minimum from 1985. Downstream of the Iron Gates, the flow rates will decrease slightly, while in the Cernavodă area, the water level is dropping by 2-3 centimeters per day, which affects the operation of the nuclear power plant.
The authorities have taken emergency measures to direct the flow on the Old Danube, including the controlled sinking of barges with stone. Interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan declared a national state of alert due to the decrease in electricity production, allocating 7 million lei to the Ministry of Transport for maintenance works of the plant's operation.
Additionally, voluntary measures are required to reduce energy consumption during the evening hours, managed by Transelectrica.
