The shutdown plan for Unit 2 at Cernavodă is moving forward. The employees of the power plant received an internal message stating that overnight, the Danube's flow has decreased by 4 centimeters, and the level has reached 1.81 meters. Consequently, the controlled shutdown of Reactor 2 will begin Thursday morning at 07:00.

"Unit 2 is currently operational, within normal parameters, without any operational issues. Indeed, tomorrow morning, starting at 7:00, we will begin the controlled shutdown procedure. The reason is that the water level in the Danube has dropped below the value that allows us to operate within normal parameters for electricity production. We are not talking about energy security or nuclear security issues, we are not in danger, but electricity production will suffer if we continue to operate below this level. That is why the decision to shut down is made for tomorrow morning," said the plant director Romeo Urjan, at RRA.
