The Minister of Environment, Diana Buzoianu, announced that she has implemented an order requiring the commissioners of the National Environmental Guard (GNM) to use body cameras in all control actions. This measure aims to protect the commissioners from potential assaults and to prevent acts of corruption. Buzoianu emphasized the importance of this order, which will ensure transparency and fairness in the activities of the GNM.
The recordings made with these devices will serve as evidence in court and can be used to document violations of environmental legislation. Additionally, the Ministry of Environment stated that unmanned aerial vehicles will be used to monitor areas with pollution potential and to identify illegal activities. The images and recordings obtained will be stored for 6 months, except in cases where they are used in judicial proceedings.
