The National Bank of Romania (BNR) has issued a statement warning the public that the document titled 'Increased Danger Regarding Legal Security – Power of Attorney with Full Authority', dated February 4, 2026, is a forgery. BNR emphasizes that it has not issued, signed, or approved such a document and that it has no legal authority to issue warnings regarding notarial acts or powers of attorney.

Although the document contains real names and positions of some BNR representatives, their use was made without the institution's consent, aiming to mislead the public. BNR reminds that all official statements are available exclusively on its website and through official communication channels.

Furthermore, the institution requests the public not to sign or redistribute the false document, emphasizing that the transmission of false documents constitutes crimes under the Penal Code.
