The Bistrița-Năsăud Tribunal has decided to acquit M. C. V., a young man with 10 years of schooling, accused of qualified murder, on the grounds that there is no evidence to prove that he committed the crime.
The incident occurred on August 1, 2018, when, following an altercation with a guard, the victim fell onto a conveyor belt and was placed into an oven, dying by incineration. The young man, who was a minor at the time of the act, was placed in preventive detention but was released after 10 days. After almost two years, he was sent to trial, and the process began in September 2021.
The acquittal decision was pronounced almost six years after the incident, and the civil actions filed by the victim's heirs were dismissed. The sentence is not final and can be appealed within 10 days.
