At a press conference in Vienna, Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker stated that Romania is a reliable partner for Austria, mentioning the historical relations and the significant Romanian community in Austria. He highlighted that Austria is the second largest investor in Romania, with over 1300 active Austrian companies in the country. Stocker emphasized the desire to expand economic cooperation and invited an exchange of experience between businesses.


He also expressed Austria's support for Romania's accession to the OECD and discussed common challenges related to high energy prices. The Chancellor also addressed the situation in Ukraine, emphasizing the importance of a negotiated peace and the continued support of the European Union for Ukraine. In conclusion, he thanked Romania for its contribution to the protection of the European Union's external borders.
