Craiova International Airport has entered a new phase with the inauguration of a modern terminal, which promises improved conditions for passengers and a more efficient flow. The investment, which exceeds 100 million euros, was made with European funds and from the state budget. The new terminal spans three hectares and includes modern check-in areas, security control, as well as separate flows for Schengen and non-Schengen flights. The airport serves a population of approximately 4.5 million residents from Oltenia, southern Muntenia, northern Bulgaria, and northeastern Serbia. The terminal's handling capacity is 2 million passengers per year, with estimates of one million passengers by 2026. The first flight will take place on December 20. This investment is considered the largest ever made for the airport, and officials hope it will transform Craiova and Dolj County into an important economic growth hub.
