A swimming coach from Câmpina, aged 42, was detained for 24 hours, accused of sexual assault against a 12-year-old minor. The investigation was initiated on May 15, 2026, following a report from the girl's mother, who stated that her daughter had been assaulted during training sessions.

The police conducted a home search in the commune of Scorțeni, at the suspect's address. The mayor of Câmpina, Irina-Mihaela Nistor, called for the immediate resignation of the coach, emphasizing the importance of minors' safety in educational and sports activities. She firmly condemned any abusive behavior and requested the coach's removal from activities with children until the investigation is completed.
