In the controversial case of the network in Prahova that issued false COVID vaccination certificates, the main doctor was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months of suspended prison, following a plea agreement. This includes a 2-year sentence for bribery and 1 year and 6 months for computer fraud.

The 12 accomplices, consisting of nurses, caregivers, and employees of the Ploiești Emergency Hospital, received sentences ranging from 8 months with deferred execution to 3 years suspended. The investigation failed to establish the exact amounts received by each member of the network, but individuals who requested the certificates paid between 200 and 1,000 lei. The final decision will be made by the High Court of Cassation and Justice on January 21, 2026. The acts were committed in the summer of 2021, before the fourth wave of the pandemic.
