Romanian police brought the 30-year-old man from Vâlcea back to the country on October 6, 2026. He is the main suspect in the case of the 28-year-old woman found dead in a suitcase floating on the Olt River. He was wanted internationally for murder and is to be taken to Vâlcea County, where the pretrial detention warrant issued in absentia will be enforced.
The Vâlcea Tribunal issued a pretrial detention warrant in absentia in the name of Bălţăţeanu Gheorghe Vlăduţ, who is the main suspect in the murder of the woman from Filiaşi, whose body was found in a suitcase floating on the Olt River.
The man reported to the police in Saint Gallen, Switzerland, on the night of September 28, around 11:00 p.m. His transfer was carried out through cooperation between the Romanian and Swiss authorities, via the International Police Cooperation Center.
The case was opened after a fisherman notified the police, in the area of the Ionești Dam, that he had found luggage floating on the Olt River. Inside was the body of a woman from Dolj County, who was living without legal documents in a commune in Vâlcea.
The autopsy indicated that the victim had suffered several traumatic injuries, and that the violent death allegedly occurred on September 21. At the suspect's home, investigators discovered stains on a mattress that are presumed to be blood. The evidence was collected for analysis.
