Paul Andrei Țenț, maxillofacial surgeon and university lecturer, has been placed under house arrest after being charged with two counts of assault.
The incident occurred on June 27, 2026, when Țenț assaulted a gendarme while performing his duties at the BNR headquarters in Cluj-Napoca, delivering four blows to the face and threatening him with death and loss of his job. Prosecutors proposed preventive detention, but the court decided on house arrest. Țenț insisted on his social status, trying to intimidate the gendarme and avoid the legal consequences of his behavior.
This case has sparked controversy, considering the professional status of the defendant, who also works at a hospital in Oradea.
