The Super Chess Classic Romania debuted on Thursday with a first day in which all matches ended in a draw, but the second round brought the first victories. Cristian Gheorghită, Executive Director of the Super Foundation, and Gabriel Grecescu, Secretary General of the Romanian Chess Federation, officially opened the competition with symbolic moves.
Praggnanandhaa defeated Sindarov, while Vachier-Lagrave won against Firouzja. Keymer achieved victory against Deac, while the matches between Caruana and Giri, as well as van Foreest and So, ended in a draw.
The tournament is taking place at the National Bank of Romania Museum, with free access for spectators who register. The Super Chess Classic is part of the Grand Chess Tour circuit, with a prize fund of $475,000.
Today, the third round is scheduled, inaugurated by Florin Răducioiu and the young Iustin Larion.
