A student from a high school in Valea Jiului was expelled from the 2026 Baccalaureate exam on Thursday after his mobile phone started ringing due to a RO-ALERT storm warning in Hunedoara County. The incident occurred during the assessment of foreign language competencies for international circulation, and the student will not be able to participate in the next two sessions of the Baccalaureate.

The general school inspector, Prof. Dr. Maria Ștefănie, mentioned that this is the first time such an incident has occurred. The exam rules prohibit the use of mobile phones in the examination room, and students were warned in advance through simulations. In the current session of the Baccalaureate, 2,347 graduates from Hunedoara County have registered, and those who do not attend the assessment cannot participate in the written tests.
