The public transport company STP Alba Iulia, which provides services in the surrounding localities of the municipality, will completely suspend transport starting Saturday, July 11, 2026, due to the lack of funds necessary for the purchase of diesel.

The director of STP, Stelian Nicola, stated that the available diesel will only be sufficient until Friday evening. For more than three weeks, public transport in Alba Iulia has been suspended due to financial arrears of over 3 million lei that the company has to recover from local authorities. The suspension of the service is the result of a labor conflict, with employees refusing to work due to unpaid salaries. The courts have intervened in the conflict, but the decisions have not led to the resumption of services. STP has obtained the blocking of the Municipality's accounts, and the municipality has requested the resumption of activity, but without success.
