The Bucharest Transport Company (STB) filed for insolvency at the Bucharest Tribunal on August 6, registered in a process where STB is listed as the debtor, and BMF GRUP SOLUTII INTEGRATE SRL as the creditor.

The request, according to Law no. 85/2014, will be judged urgently within 10 days, without summoning the parties. The General Council of the Municipality of Bucharest decided on July 21 to mandate the General Assembly of STB Shareholders to request the initiation of the insolvency procedure, considering the seriousness of the financial situation, which could lead to the inability of the Municipality to pay. Mayor Ciprian Ciucu emphasized that STB's debts amount to 5.6 billion lei, almost equivalent to the PMB budget. He stated that insolvency will not affect public transport or employee salaries, and suppliers will be paid. The next step is the decision of the judge-syndic to open the procedure.
