The Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) issued a statement drawing attention to disinformation campaigns that have intensified online following the explosion in the Rahova neighborhood. SRI has observed the emergence of conspiracy theories targeting both the tragic incident and the state institutions involved in its management. The institution mentioned that there are indications of a coordinated disinformation campaign, highlighting the risks associated with the spread of unverified information from unreliable sources. SRI recommends that citizens inform themselves from official sources and verify facts before redistributing content online. Additionally, SRI emphasized the need to update legislation, including in the criminal sphere, to effectively combat disinformation campaigns that undermine public trust in state institutions and threaten the safety of citizens.
