The Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) issued a statement on Friday, clarifying details about the 190 million euro contract with Digi Romania, intended for the development of a platform for cybersecurity. Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan previously stated that the government was not involved in this contract and requested more transparency.

SRI acknowledged that it managed the procurement process and awarded the contract through direct negotiation, without publishing a participation announcement. In a previous statement, SRI suggested that the responsibility lies with the government, which generated confusion.

SRI detailed that it identified the procurement needs, consulted the market, and prepared the necessary documentation, complying with the legislation in force. The project, part of the European SAFE program, aims to strengthen national cybersecurity and will be implemented over a period of four years, with a focus on utilizing companies from the EU.
