Employees of the Oltenia Energy Complex (CEO) have initiated spontaneous protests in several mining careers and at the Rovinari Power Plant, dissatisfied with the possible elimination of meal vouchers and the reduction of incomes in the context of austerity measures. The protests began on Wednesday evening, and on Thursday morning, some employees refused to go to work, demanding solutions to maintain their salary rights. The president of the Oltenia Mine-Energy Union, Jan Popescu, emphasized that meal vouchers replaced the hot meals previously provided to miners, which are essential for carrying out activities under difficult conditions. Although the protests do not affect the functioning of the National Energy System, the union members want to send a warning signal to the authorities. In response, CEO representatives announced the drafting of a memorandum to maintain meal vouchers, which will be sent to the Government for approval.
