Minister of Education and Research Sorin Costreie announced on Friday that he is considering establishing an advisory council dedicated to key issues in education and research. The initiative was discussed during a meeting with former education and research ministers who served after 1990, organized to identify solutions that would ensure the continuity of reforms regardless of political changes.
Costreie said that education cannot be “rebuilt with every new term” because it is a long-term undertaking. The minister argues that projects and reforms already under way must be preserved and improved, rather than abandoned whenever the ministry’s leadership changes.
“We build on what works and improve what does not,” the minister said, emphasizing that professional expertise should take precedence over political affiliations. He added that a meeting would also be held with former ministers who were unable to attend the first gathering.
Among those who attended the discussions were Ecaterina Andronescu, Monica Anisie, Ligia Deca, Anton Anton, Cristian Adomniței, Alexandru Athanasiu, Daniel Breaz, Adrian Curaj and Remus Pricopie. According to the minister, after all former officeholders responsible for the portfolio have been consulted, the foundations of the new advisory council are expected to be established.
