According to some calculations, a new pension law recently passed could double some Romanians' pensions.

An example is a pensioner with a current pension of 1,125 lei, who will receive 2,340 lei after the increases. Spending on pensions after 2024 will be 125.9 billion lei annually, rising by 10 billion lei from September. The law has benefited from a World Bank's substantiation analysis and is included as a milestone in the PNRR.
