The Interministerial Committee Bala-Cernavodă evaluated, on Thursday, solutions for maintaining the Danube's level at the cooling intake of the nuclear power plant in Cernavodă, in the context of some historically low levels. The committee includes representatives from several ministries and institutions, and the solutions will be implemented in the coming weeks. Dredging the channels is the first measure analyzed, having the potential to improve water distribution. Additionally, barges have been placed to divert the current towards the plant area. The construction of a short stone dam is anticipated to direct water towards the navigable channel. Other measures include the installation of a mobile dam and pumps to ensure the necessary flow for cooling the plant, even in low water conditions. CNE Cernavodă has equipment to maintain reactor cooling in critical situations, thus ensuring the safe operation of the plant.
