The Ministry of Education announces social scholarships of 925 lei/month for 39,000 students from disadvantaged backgrounds, to prevent university dropout.

The Ministry of Education and Research has announced that over 39,000 students from disadvantaged backgrounds will benefit from social scholarships, worth 925 lei/month, from January to July 2026. This measure aims to prevent and reduce university dropout rates. The Executive Unit for Financing Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation (UEFISCDI), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, has launched a call for the selection of accredited state universities that will be able to grant these scholarships.

Applications for selection can be submitted exclusively in electronic format until March 6, 2026. This initiative is part of the project 'Interventions for Tertiary Education - systemic measures for preventing and reducing university dropout', funded through the Education and Employment Program (PEO) 2021-2027.
