Simona Stan, the sister of former minister Carmen Dan, is under house arrest for bribery.

Simona Stan, sister of former Interior Minister Carmen Dan, was placed under house arrest for 30 days on Friday, being accused of fraud in which she misled several people for a total amount of approximately 1.3 million euros. Together with her accomplice, Mariana Popa, who is under judicial control, Stan has been accused of defrauding six victims between January 2023 and July 2024, claiming to be an influential employee in oil companies. The victims were convinced to purchase luxury cars and real estate, without receiving the promised goods.

The Bucharest Tribunal rejected the prosecutors' request for preventive arrest, ordering house arrest for Stan. The prosecutors have seized the defendants' assets to recover the damages.
