This decrease is mainly due to the resumption of activity in the Ukrainian port of Odesa, which has reduced the transit of Ukrainian grains through the Romanian port. The largest declines were recorded in crude oil, iron ores, iron waste, and solid mineral fuels. In contrast, the Netherlands remains the largest shipping carrier in the EU, with 538 million tons of goods, followed by Italy and Spain. In terms of the structure of goods, energy products such as coal and oil accounted for a significant proportion of the goods transited. Liquids constitute the largest category of processed goods in the major ports of the EU, followed by containerized goods.
