The General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police reported a decrease of over 12% in the number of criminal complaints in the first nine months of 2025, compared to the same period in 2024, with a total of 368,493 complaints. Judicial crimes decreased by 15.7%, and economic-financial crimes by 8.9%. Additionally, crimes against individuals recorded a significant reduction of 22.6%. Theft and robbery crimes decreased by 11.6% and 15%, respectively. In rural areas, crimes decreased by 23,467. At the same time, road accidents were fewer, with 205 less than in 2024, resulting in 940 deaths and 2,352 serious injuries.
