National Trade Register Office: Registrations of individuals and legal entities decreased by 8.94% in the first nine months of 2026

The number of registrations of individuals and legal entities fell by 8.94% in the January-September 2026 period compared with the same period last year, according to data from the National Trade Register Office (ONRC). A total of 100,975 entities were registered, including 55,751 limited liability companies and 40,800 authorized individuals.

The highest number of registrations was recorded in Bucharest, with 24,326, followed by Ilfov, Cluj and Timiș. The only counties where the number of registrations increased were Călărași, Constanța and Galați. The largest declines were recorded in Alba, Tulcea and Dolj.

By sector, transportation and storage attracted the most registrations, namely 17,612, followed by wholesale and retail trade, with 14,413, and professional, scientific and technical activities, with 10,672. In September 2026, 6,897 individuals and legal entities were registered.
