A tragedy occurred in the Bucegi Mountains, where four climbers fell from a great height due to inadequate protection.
The victims, members of the Romanian Alpine Club, were on a paid course, descending the last section after a rappel of over 200 meters. Sources from the investigation indicate that they secured themselves to a single old piton over 30 years old, which failed, causing their fall. The first to begin the descent was Antonia, a dentist passionate about climbing, whose fall was fatal.
The police have opened a criminal case for manslaughter, and investigators are trying to determine responsibilities. Mountain guide Nardy Boltașu emphasizes the importance of checking protections on the route, warning that they can fail due to weather conditions.
The survivors are currently in hospitals in Bucharest and Brașov, suffering from serious fractures.
