The Prosecutor's Office next to the Court of Appeal Ploiești announced the completion of investigations in the case of the interception of a Shahed drone by a Romanian army F-16, an incident that occurred on Friday in the Padina area, Buzău County.
The drone entered Romanian airspace on a trajectory that included Sulina, Brăila, Fetești, and Buzău, being neutralized above an uninhabited area without causing damage. Prosecutors have opened a criminal case in rem for the offense of operating an aircraft in a prohibited area, according to the Air Code. Fragments of the drone were found on the county road DJ 203E, between the commune of Padina and the village of Tovărășia.
Additionally, President Nicușor Dan announced that another drone was shot down 10 kilometers from the town of Sfântu Gheorghe, shortly after the incident in Buzău. Press releases will continue to be issued as investigations progress.
