Serious accident in Călărași: a 77-year-old driver hits a group of people

A serious accident occurred in the locality of Mănăstirea, Călărași County, when a 77-year-old driver crashed into a group of people. The man claims he confused the brake pedal with the accelerator while trying to park. As a result of the impact, four people were injured, three of whom required medical attention.

A 63-year-old woman is in serious condition, having a fracture in her spine, and was urgently transported by a SMURD helicopter to Floreasca Hospital in Bucharest. The driver suffered a panic attack, and the police confirmed that he had not consumed alcohol.

A criminal case for bodily harm through negligence has been opened against him. Authorities continue investigations to clarify the circumstances of the accident.
