The seizure measure was imposed by a Belgian court following a lawsuit filed by Pfizer against Poland regarding the non-payment for COVID-19 vaccines worth 1.9 billion euros. The Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PANSA) was informed by Eurocontrol that the amounts owed from air traffic fees had been seized. PANSA is preparing a challenge, arguing that the case is unrelated to its activities. In April 2022, Poland refused to comply with the contract with Pfizer, citing various reasons, including the war in Ukraine. Additionally, ROMATSA confirmed a seizure on its accounts, amounting to 3.4 billion lei, but the Romanian government will contest the measure. The Polish Prime Minister stated that the government will support PANSA in this complicated situation. Pfizer emphasized the importance of fulfilling contractual obligations in the context of the pandemic.
