In Sector 3, the collection of recyclable waste increased from 1,000 tons per month in June 2025 to nearly 4,000 tons in December 2025, a fourfold increase. In January 2026, out of a total of 9,739.86 tons of waste collected, approximately 4,000 tons were recyclable. This development occurs in the national context, where Romania recycles only 13-14% of municipal waste, below the European average of 49%. The strategy of Sector 3 included campaigns to educate citizens, improving collection infrastructure, and applying penalties for non-compliance with the rules. Mayor Robert Negoiță emphasized that the goal is to achieve a 60% rate of recyclable waste, a threshold that would place Sector 3 at the top of the national ranking and above the European average, demonstrating that change is possible through administrative will and investment.
