The local councilors of Sector 1 decided on Tuesday to increase taxes for the owners of 15 buildings in an advanced state of degradation, with percentages between 100 and 500%, depending on their level of danger to citizens. Mayor Cristian Tuță emphasized that this measure is necessary to maintain the community and encourage the rehabilitation of facades. USR councilor Cristian Nicolaescu drew attention to the high costs of rehabilitation, suggesting that authorities should offer low-interest loans to property owners. The mayor explained that the taxation is not abusive and that owners have a period of 7-8 months to take action. He also mentioned that the city hall is working on financial solutions to assist owners in managing degraded buildings, but the priority remains the rehabilitation of residential blocks.
