The honorary advisor to Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, Sebastian Burduja, sparked controversy with his statements about public sector employees, whom he categorized into three groups: incompetents, people who supplement their income from illegal sources, and "crazy" individuals who work honestly. Following negative reactions, Burduja returned with a message on Facebook, stating that he spoke an uncomfortable truth about low salaries in administration and the lack of performance evaluation tools. He emphasized that he respects competent civil servants who choose to remain in the public sector, even with low salaries, and called for better working conditions and fair evaluations to improve performance in administration. Burduja insisted that the public function has both good and bad employees, and proposed measures to motivate the competent ones and eliminate those who do not perform. He concluded by stating that Romania needs a strong state, built on the foundation of good people who deserve respect and decent working conditions.
