Prosecutors and police are conducting searches in eight criminal cases related to forestry and economic offenses, in the context of International Environment Day.

The prosecutors of the General Prosecutor's Office and police officers of the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism are conducting searches in eight criminal cases, targeting forestry crimes, environmental crimes, and economic crimes. The actions are taking place as part of Operation Jupiter, on the occasion of International Environment Day, and involve over 30 home searches in the counties of Arad, Timiș, Hunedoara, Caraș-Severin, Suceava, and Neamț.

The cases investigate illegal tree cutting, waste management, and theft of timber, including employees from the forestry staff. Among the searches, there are actions related to waste management and the origin of timber, with suspicions of embezzlement and computer fraud.

The activities are coordinated by prosecutors and supported by police officers, aiming to identify and dismantle criminal networks that illegally exploit Romania's natural resources. Environmental crimes have a significant impact on the natural heritage and the health of the population.
