The Arad County Emergency Clinical Hospital (SCJU) is facing a significant staff shortage, with 624 vacant positions out of a total of 2,999. The average bed occupancy rate is 78%, and the unit has requested, since April, the unblocking of hiring for 190 positions, most of which are intended for nurses. The hospital management reported that, in the last six months, 48 employees have left the institution, including one doctor and 16 nurses. The Ministry of Health has requested a list of the necessary staff for the proper functioning of activities, and SCJU has estimated that there will be further departures due to retirements. Although the shortage of medical staff is evident, the hospital ensures the continuity of medical services. Interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan has requested an analysis of personnel expenses in hospitals, considering that they represent, on average, 65% of the budget, and some units even reach 90%.
