Saint Martyr Hypatius is commemorated on March 31 in the Orthodox Christian calendar. Bishop of Gangra, in Paphlagonia, he was one of the 318 Holy Fathers who participated in the Council of Nicaea in 325, where he defended the true faith against the heresy of Arius. Known for the gift of miracles, Saint Hypatius healed infirmities and brought sweet waters from the bitter ones. He was killed by the Novatian heretics, who violently attacked him, but he prayed for their forgiveness before dying. Divine punishment did not delay, and his murderers suffered severe consequences. His body was buried in Gangra, where many healings took place, including for those who killed him. His life and martyrdom are an inspiration for the faithful, symbolizing courage and forgiveness.
