Russian attack at the border with Romania: Two F-16 planes were launched to track drones

In the early hours of Tuesday, a Russian airstrike damaged the port infrastructure in the Ukrainian city of Izmail, located across the Danube from Romania, prompting an air alert.

The Ministry of National Defense (MApN) announced that it had scrambled two F-16 aircraft and that its radars tracked a group of drones that struck the port. Izmail, the largest Ukrainian port on the Danube, has frequently been the target of attacks. Local officials reported damage to the port infrastructure, but no casualties or significant destruction were recorded.

At the same time, MApN confirmed that no radar signals were detected in Romanian airspace, and the air alert was lifted at 02:57. Russian forces continued drone attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine, near the border with Romania, and measures to alert the population in Tulcea County were activated.
