The state company Romgaz has announced a new completion deadline for the 430 MW power plant in Iernut, extending the deadline to December 31, 2026. The project, started in 2016, has encountered difficulties, including the termination of the contract with the Spanish contractor Duro Felguera, which occurred for the second time. The degree of completion of the works is approximately 98%, but some installations have begun to degrade due to delays.

Romgaz initially signed a contract with Duro Felguera, which was under investigation for corruption, and later decided to resume work with the same company, citing the progress made. Specialists within Romgaz are pessimistic regarding the completion of the project this year, despite the new deadline set.
